Error: "A [merchant, manufacturer, standardized] product ID is required for shipments to the European Union."

Overview

Three Product IDs may be required for shipments to the European Union. If your shipment is missing any of these IDs, this will cause the shipment to fail and this error message to appear. 

Symptoms

1. Error message occurs when shipping to the European Union:
   "A [merchant, manufacturer, standardized] product ID is required for shipments to the European Union."

Possible Causes

1. One of the three product IDs indicated in the error message is missing from the request.  

Troubleshooting Steps

1. Look at the <Contents> section of your shipment.
2. Verify that each item has these fields populated:
   1. ITEM_NUMBER
   2. ITEM_MANUFACTURE_PRODUCT_ID
   3. ITEM_GS1_IDENTIFIER
